Recipes to enjoying your deck
You’ve taken the time and care to get your deck done right with a good power wash and hand-applied stain so that it will not only look great, but it will also be a great spot for you to enjoy for years to come. And now that summer is upon us here in Minneapolis it’s the best season to really enjoy your beautifully refinished and stained deck. So, in order to help you enjoy it to the fullest, courtesy of your favorite Minneapolis Deck Stainer – Deck Redo, here is our favorite summer recipe to enjoy beautiful Minneapolis summer evenings out on our decks at home:
Portabella Mushroom Burgers with Dijon Basil Sauce:
- Clean and de-stem giant portabella mushrooms
- fill the “cup” side with fat free Italian dressing and allow to soak for at least 20 minutes
The sauce that makes the burger! (and is great on steak, sandwiches, salads, etc)
Mix together:
- 1 cup mayonnaise (miracle whip or fat free mayo work too)
- 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ⅓ cup freshly chopped basil (it must be fresh!)
Heat up the grill and grill the mushrooms dressing side up until they’re tender and nearly done
Flip them at with the last few minutes remaining, allowing the dressing to drain and fully cook. Once they’re done cooking, turn the mushrooms back over to cup side up and fill with shredded mozzarella cheese, and heat just until melted.
We like to grill the buns and then load them up with tomatoes and lettuce from the garden and then slather on the Dijon Basil Sauce and top with the mushroom! You can use any leftover basil for a caprese salad or in basil lemonade.
